By Crox Media Desk: Indian opener Shubhman Gill scored his maiden century in Test Cricket while playing against Bangladesh at Chattogram on Friday. He becomes the first test opener to score a century in Test Cricket this year.

The Indian Opener and Cheteshwar Pujara put together 113 after the dismissal of Captain KL Rahul. Gill got a nervy start but hit 11 boundaries and 3 sixes for his innings of 110 off 152 balls.

Before Gill came out to bat, India’s openers had reached their half-centuries but were miles away from a hundred. The closest to reaching the century is Cheteshwar Pujara who scored 66 against Birmingham in the final test series. And KL Rahul scored 50 against South Africa.

Gill played a patient innings on the day, dodging short balls, that put Captain KL Rahul in Trouble. Rahul holed out at deep square while trying to cut away against Khaled Ahmed but could not get the required elevation for the ball.

On the other hand, Gill looked composed and got out after his century, trying to take on Mehidy Hasan. After Gill Pujara took the charge and reached his century in 130 balls, and right after that Rahul decided to get his bowlers on the attack.

India has set up 513 and looks to finish this test match well before a day.
