Nadav questioned the screening of the film and stated that it was a “vulgar and disturbing subject.”
What exactly occurred? He said, “The jury was not happy with the 15th one.” It felt like propaganda. And to be honest, it was vulgar, which was inappropriate for such a great film festival.
Who is Nadav Lipid?
Nadav Lipid was born in Tel-Aviv, Israel, in 1975. He studied philosophy at Tel-Aviv University and literature in Paris. In 2001, Nadav published a novel entitled “Contunua Bailando” and worked as a cinematographer on several documentaries in Israel. He received a special award for his debut film, “Policemen,” at the Locarno Film Festival in 2011.
His Connection to IFFI
Nadav has an old connection with IFFI, as in his 2014 film “The Kindergarten Teacher,” actor Sarit Larry was awarded the best actor (female) at the festival. In 2016, Lipid was chosen as a member of the international critics’ week jury.

The 47-year-old filmmaker is known for his outspoken behaviour toward his home country and films across the globe.
Lipid was one of the 250 Israeli filmmakers who signed an open letter to protest against the Shomron Film Fund. According to him, the filmmakers felt that the fund had just one goal: inviting filmmakers to actively participate in whitewashing the occupation in exchange for financial support and prizes.
