After waiting for nearly a decade, World Cup was finally headed Messi’s way in Qatar on Sunday. The Argentina GOAT finally proclaimed his world cup after several heartbreaks and disappointments.

By Crox Media:  This seems to be been 35-year-old Lionel Messi’s checklist before Sunday’s World Cup against France at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar. Barring one Copa America win in 2021, the international trophies column had been emptied for quite some time for the game’s one of the best. And the glory didn’t wait too long for Messi. It took four world cups but finally, but Argentina finally proclaimed their world cup in Qatar.

The World Cup could not have been written any better for Messi and the team’s supporters. This was Messi’s 26th World Cup game and the stage was set for the finale, for a farewell. There was a prediction right at the beginning that this might be the dream world cup for the little magician. Thousands of Argentina Fans traveled to Qatar. This Sunday’s victory was sweet and was years in the making. This win comes with bitter losses and tears. And Messi, the protagonist came to fly high on victories and grappling with losses in such a superb career of nearly decades.

Shaky Start at Qatar

The road to the final chapter was quite shaky as the team struggled at the group stages as well after losing 2-1 to Saudi Arabia. The start was not certainly as planned. Dreaming of winning the world cup? At one point, getting out of group stages looked quite difficult.

But right from the second match, it was game on. Messi Looked quite comfortable and kept inspiring his team with moments of his magic. As Argentina’s game improved the narrative picked up as this could be Messi’s last world cup.

The Final Shutdown

And on Sunday, December 18, Messi and Argentina found themselves facing the final match of the tournament. They were against France a side that was fighting to become the first team to win the back-to-back world cup and take the golden boot award as well. These are teammates at PSG but here they were rivals.

The match itself was one the greatest final matches and nearly after 8 years, Argentina lifted the FIFA Cup and Messi was a captain.
