Maruti Suzuki Jimny offers 4WD standard, while Mahindra Thar offers both RWD and 4WD options.
By Crox Times Desk: There was a rivalry between the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the Mahindra Thar. However, if we look at the volumes of two SUVs, now numbers are stating a different story.
Maruti Suzuki India Sold 14,456 units of the Jimny from June to October. The vehicle was launched back in June. In comparison, Mahindra and Mahindra Sold over 26,000 units in the June-October period.
At the heart of Maruti Suzuki Jimny is a K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine which delivers 105PS of maximum power and 134NM of peak Torque. The transmission options include a 5-speed and 4-speed AT.
Mahindra Thar has three engine options- a 1.5 Litre D117 CRDe diesel engine and, a 1.5 Litre Diesel engine that can be paired with a 6-speed MT. The 2.2 Litre diesel and 2.0 Litre petrol mills have 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT choices.
The Thar 1.5 Litre comes with RWD, the Thar 2.2 Litre diesel has a 4WD and the Thar 2.0 Litre gets RWD and 4WD options.
Talking about the price of Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the first goes between the price range of 10.98 Lakh to INR 16.94 Lakh (Ex-showroom Price). The latter goes into the price range of INR 12.74 lakh and INR 15.05 Lakh (Ex-showroom Price)
