The Mahindra Thar 5-door will compete with Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the upcoming 5-door from Force’s monster Gurkha.
By Crox Times Desk: As Mahindra and Mahindra are all ready to launch the much-anticipated Thar 5-door, fresh spy images have surfaced showcasing the SUV’s near-production-ready features.
While the launch of the five-door Thar remains under wraps, the buzz around the car is just unthinkable, this version would be far more advanced and features would be beyond two extra doors. There are certain speculations that the 5-door Thar will not have sport an electric sunroof but also introduce a revamped infotainment system and modernized instrument cluster.
Under the hood, all the potential buyers can look forward to two powertrain options- a 2.2-liter Mhawk 130 CRDE diesel engine generating 130bhp and 300NM and a 2.0-liter stallion 150 TGDi petrol engine producing 150bhp and 320Nm. Both engines are likely to be paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission, catering to all the major driving preferences.
In terms of pricing, the thar 5-door is expected to be in between INR 12.50 Lakh to INR 18.50 Lakh and it will compete with Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the upcoming force Gurkha.
