By Crox Times Desk: The country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki has reached the production milestone of 3 crore units since commencing its operations in December 1983, taking 40 years and 4 months to reach.
Currently, Maruti Produces cars at its facilities in Gurugram, Manesar, and Hansalpur. Of the total, 2.68 crores have been produced at the Haryana-based facilities and 32 Lakh cars at Gujarat-based units, Suzuki Motor Gujarat is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Maruti.
An important model that largely contributes to the growth of carmakers in terms of volumes is the Maruti Suzuki 800 at over 29 Lakh Units. Other top contributors include the Alto 800, Alto K10, Wagon R, Dzire, Omni, Baleno, and Ertiga.
Maruti is the only leader in domestic operations today. It leads to exports as well. The company started car exports in 1987, the company now has a share of almost 40% of the total vehicle exports in India. It exports globally nearly 100 worldwide.
As of now, Maruti Suzuki sells 18 models through Nexa, Arena, and all commercial retail channels.
