Google Employees have no place to sit, they are asked to share desks with colleagues

Google Employees belonging to selected departments asked to share their colleague’s desks for the next quarter.

By Crox Media: Google employees belonging to selected departments have been asked to share their work desks with their colleagues for the next quarter. The company is currently planning to shut down its offices in selected locations. As per the report CNBC, Google had asked its employees to share desk spaces. 

According to the report CNBC, the search giant had asked its employees based in US offices in Kirkland, Washington, New York City, Seattle, and California- the company is taking measures so that it can continue to invest in Cloud growth. The memo also stated that the company vacating a few of its offices. 

“Most of the Googlers will now share a desk with another Googler” the internal memo read, “Through the matching process, they will agree on a basic desk setup and establish norms with their desk partner and teams to ensure a positive experience in the new shared environment” The note also asks employees to come to the office on alternate days so that they don’t end up at the same desk on the same day”.

As per the report, Google has introduced a new way of working that takes both in-person and remote work. This new model is known as “CLOE” or “Cloud Office Evolution”. As per the company, this new way of working will lead to more efficient use of space.
